Samsung SDS Finalizes Next-Generation ERP For Samsung Electro-Mechanics

Samsung SDS successfully migrates 8.5 terabytes of data to a next-generation ERP for Samsung Electro-Mechanics, slashing system downtime by over 76 percent.

On April 20, Samsung SDS Co., Ltd. (formerly Samsung Data Systems) announced that it had completed a project built for Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ next-generation enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. Following Samsung SDS’ recognition as a “RISE and SAP Premium Supplier” in September 2025, this project marks the first case based on it. According to the company, it was able to maintain business continuity while migrating large-scale data by applying Downtime Optimized Conversion technology. The company emphasized that it based this technology on the SAP HANA database to significantly reduce the downtime required to convert 8.5 terabytes of data by more than 76 percent, from 140 hours to 34 hours.

Furthermore, Samsung SDS is also expanding the footprint of its cloud ERP conversion business. This utilizes the Samsung Cloud Platform (SCP), which is based on an extensive 30 years of experience in handling ERP consulting, implementation, and operations capabilities. Also, the company is, in addition to Samsung Electro-Mechanics, executing cloud ERP conversion projects with customers in services and distribution to increase its presence in the market.

Moreover, Jun-ho-Park, Head of the MIS Group at Samsung Electro-Mechanics, noted that the project marked a departure from the existing methods by first integrating and standardizing processes, followed by applying them simultaneously across all entities. This helps in reducing build period and costs, thereby holding the distinction of being the first case in South Korea where a real-time analytics environment was built by integrating major dispersed data into a single BW (Business Warehouse) database. CIO Bulletin views this development as reinforcing Samsung SDS’ commitment to continue expanding its leadership by spearheading cloud ERP conversions across industries such as manufacturing, services, distribution, and finance, among others.
