Klarna Expands Reach in Payments and Cards Innovation

Klarna collaborates with Marqeta and Visa to transform the payments and card acceptance system in 15 European markets with versatile, hassle-free payment systems.

Klarna is transforming the financial market of Europe through significant initiative in payments and card innovation. The global digital bank is launching its Klarna Card in 15 new markets in Europe in cooperation with Marqeta and Visa and will enable more individuals to be more flexible and take charge of their spending.

The partnership can be explained by the utilization of Visa Flexible Credential (VFC) technology, which allows customers to pay now or defer the payment to later in one debit card. This action not only makes it easier but also focuses on the future of payments and cards in the digital economy.

Summarizing, the modern card issuance platform by Marqeta helps Klarna expand relatively efficiently across regions without impacting customization and compliance. This Klarna Card is already operating in some of the major markets, such as the UK, Germany, Norway, and Poland, with major parts of Europe and the U.S. available.

According to David Sandstrom, Chief Marketing Officer of Klarna, "We are simplifying, making everyday spending easier and fair at Klarna. We will combine the ease of debit transactions with the flexibility of pay-later options, alongside Marqeta and Visa, into a single experience."

This project is a major breakthrough in the field of payments and card innovation that deals with the convenience, visibility, and choice of millions of consumers in Europe.
