To promote North East India’s tourism, reshape perceptions, and highlight Tripura’s many cultural and natural attractions to our global travelers, it is essential to develop a strong public relations agenda.

Although rich in culture and natural heritage, the North-East is rife with travel destinations that are totally unexplored, and Tripura definitely qualifies as one. According to Mihir Bhattacharjee, a former BSF officer who champions the cause of tourism in Tripura, PR has to answer the question of using unlocking keys for the region to experience tourism in future.

PR is supposed to reinvent public thinking and perceptions built around the region as a distant and undeveloped one. There is an urgent need for the most wonderful PR activity in repositioning Tripura and North East as a beautiful, safe, and surely better place for visits. Bhattacharjee feels that the PR effort-it may have to borrow some of Sikkim's tricks-has got to build up the region around these tribal cultures, scenic landscapes, and show off the biodiversity.

A focused PR strategy could develop the North-East into the next global tourism spot and, for sure, feature millions of dollars in India's coffers.
