Red Hat reveals RHEL AI, an open-source platform for developing and deploying generative AI models in enterprise environments.
Red Hat has made a significant leap into the generative AI (GenAI) space with the launch of its new platform, Red Hat Enterprise Linux AI (RHEL AI). This innovative platform is designed to update the development, testing, and deployment of GenAI models within enterprise settings. Announced on September 9, 2024, RHEL AI is built on the open-source InstructLab project, integrating IBM's Granite models with InstructLab's alignment tools.
RHEL AI offers a bootable Red Hat Enterprise Linux image that simplifies the setup of GenAI projects. It includes essential AI libraries and an optimized software stack for hardware accelerators from NVIDIA, Intel, and AMD, facilitating quick and efficient development. The platform aims to empower domain experts and data scientists alike to build and scale AI models across hybrid cloud environments, leveraging Red Hat OpenShift AI for production.
Joe Fernandes, VP and GM of Foundation Model Platforms at Red Hat, highlighted the platform's versatility, noting that RHEL AI enables contributions from various experts and supports scalable deployment. For those interested in RHEL AI, pricing details are available through Red Hat’s official channels, with options to run the platform on any server or via cloud services like AWS and IBM Cloud.
Red Hat plans to expand its network of cloud and OEM partners to further support the RHEL AI platform, marking a significant step in its engagement with the generative AI sector.
