Red Hat OpenShift 4.16 celebrates its debut with cutting-edge capabilities for edge computing, virtualization, and improved security for hybrid clouds.
Red Hat OpenShift 4.16, which includes major upgrades to handle both traditional and AI-driven workloads, has been released by Red Hat, Inc., an internationally recognized supplier of open source solutions. This updated version brings additional features for managing hybrid clouds and streamlines the process of modernizing virtualized infrastructures.
Key enhancements in OpenShift 4.16 include advanced virtualization features such as Metro disaster recovery and hot-add CPU, designed to streamline the migration and scaling of virtual machines (VMs). For edge computing, the update introduces image-based updates (IBU) for single node OpenShift, minimizing service disruptions by allowing pre-production updates and quick rollbacks.
Additionally, Red Hat has launched the Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security Cloud Service, a fully managed Kubernetes-native security solution. This service supports both Red Hat OpenShift and other Kubernetes platforms like EKS, GKE, and AKS, enabling organizations to enhance security across diverse cloud environments efficiently.
Mike Barrett, Red Hat’s VP and GM of Hybrid Cloud Platforms, emphasized the platform’s role in supporting organizations' AI and infrastructure modernization needs. “With OpenShift 4.16, organizations can balance legacy and modern applications, ensuring a future-ready infrastructure,” Barrett stated.
Red Hat OpenShift 4.16 is now available, with further details and updates accessible through Red Hat’s official channels. The Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security Cloud Service is also available, with a 60-day trial option.
