New regional benchmarks and on-call incident response aim to help brokers give clients clearer answers on cyber exposure
Cyber risk analytics tailored for Asia are now reaching insurance brokers across the region. CyberCube, a specialist in cyber risk modeling for the insurance industry, has partnered with Blackpanda, Asia’s leading cyber incident response firm, to bring localized data and practical support to brokers through Broking Manager.
Until now, many cyber risk models used in Asia relied on a single global average. That approach often failed to capture the real conditions brokers and their clients face on the ground. Under the new partnership, CyberCube’s Broking Manager platform, already used in 40 countries, adds an Asia-Pacific regional view. Brokers can now compare loss severity, incident frequency and security posture against peers in their own markets rather than against a worldwide average.
Blackpanda will introduce local brokers to Broking Manager and license the platform for its own broker relationships. Its incident response team will also remain available for clients referred through the arrangement. In return, CyberCube has licensed Blackpanda’s aggregated and anonymized incident data to strengthen regional research.
“Brokers across Asia have told us for years that a single global benchmark doesn’t reflect what they’re actually seeing in the market,” said Nate Brink, Head of Broker Sales & Account Management at CyberCube.
Gene Yu, Founder and CEO of Blackpanda, added that clients are asking harder questions about cyber exposure and how much cover is enough. Broking Manager, he said, gives brokers a structured way to answer those questions with financial-loss analytics and peer benchmarking. When an incident occurs, clients can turn to Blackpanda’s response team, recognized by Frost & Sullivan as Asia-Pacific’s Incident Response Company of the Year for three consecutive years.
As CIO Bulletin has followed developments in cyber insurance, the gap between global models and local reality has been a recurring concern for brokers in Asia. This collaboration aims to close that gap by pairing data that reflects regional conditions with response capability that sits close to clients. Brokers interested in the platform can request an introduction through Blackpanda.
