SAP clean core migration is easier with agentic AI tools, accelerating S/4HANA cloud adoption and lowering migration prices and efforts faced by business enterprises.

SAP customers are increasingly viewing a move to a clean core as the precondition to adopting S/4HANA Cloud and realizing AI-driven capabilities. The process is, however, usually complicated, with numerous organizations burdened with decades of custom code.

Lemongrass Consulting has released its Clean Core AI Accelerator to help solve this problem: improving the SAP customer migration process by making it simpler to recognize and document legacy customizations. The tool may advise on the basis of checking the possibility of the elimination of outdated customizations or substituting them with standard capabilities in S/4HANA or managing them through apps on the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP).

The same is true with the IT services provider Kyndryl that has collaborated with Nova Intelligence to apply agentic AI to SAP modernization. The changes they have made have recently reduced the migration of more than 33,000 lines of custom ABAP code into clean core functions to 10 days, a process that would traditionally consume weeks.

According to industry analysts, such AI-enabled tools would go a long way to reduce the cost of migration by substituting labor-intensive consulting work with automated and data-driven insights. Although analysts warn that the technologies remain in their infancy, there is recognition that the change has the potential to reinvent enterprise ERP transformations.
