CIOBulletin - Korean Office Workers Widely Embrace Translation Software

In the survey conducted by DeepL, Korean businesses use translation software because they view it as time-saving and precise and are not affected by communication issues.

According to a recent survey by DeepL, 7 out of 10 Korean office workers currently use translation software actively to promote efficiency at work. The research was carried out with a group of 500 workers employed in the spheres of IT, marketing, and law and it has revealed increased reliance on AI-enabled language tools.

The findings were that 67.6 percent of respondents had used translation software, and among the incentives, they had cited savings of time (91.7), reduction of costs (89.6), and the reduced load (89.9). The level of satisfaction with the translation quality rating amounted to 74.9%, and 89.2% of the users intend to continue or expand their usage.

The software that translated text was the second most popular instrument using AI after general AI applications. Nevertheless, 46.7 percent of actors report a reduction in the quality of the product or goods because of the mistranslation, and 35.8 percent of respondents report delays in projects because of the misunderstanding with the foreign partners.

When selecting translation software, the two priorities were accuracy and sentence naturalness. Steve Loter, the CMO of DeepL, underlined the strategic place of Korea saying that local users are highly sophisticated customers who demand linguistic precision combined with cultural awareness.

Korea is becoming a hub in the world AI revolution in language industries, as 75.4 percent concurred that translating software enhances the productivity of work.
