IndiGo flights, 6E Network, Chennai to Jaffna, international

With daily flights from Chennai to Jaffna, the new route improves India-Sri Lanka ties and increases tourism.

Direct flights to Jaffna, Sri Lanka, are now available on IndiGo, the airline's newest international route. As the airline's second destination in Sri Lanka after Colombo, this new service—which is a part of the airline's growing 6E network marks IndiGo's 34th international and 122nd overall destination.

To improve the cultural and commercial links between India and Sri Lanka, these flights have been introduced. It is expected that the route will facilitate family reunions, strengthen interpersonal ties, and make access to healthcare and education easier. With more than 21,000 travelers between Chennai and Jaffna in just nine months of the previous year, the new direct flights are intended to meet this strong demand and improve Sri Lanka's tourism recovery.

Head of Global Sales at IndiGo Vinay Malhotra said, "We are extremely excited to begin operations in Jaffna. Additionally, to improve trade and tourism, this new link promises a shorter journey time from Chennai—just 75 minutes. Our mission is to continue building our network with a variety of locations while offering reasonably priced, punctual, and hassle-free travel."
