Jakarta will host a symposium that involves a team of experts from the countries in the region (ASEAN) and Australia to exchange new thoughts about architecture and interior design applications in steel.
Jakarta is hosting one of the most-expected architecture and interior events in 2025. The occasion for the rotunda to do this is the Shaping Resilient Future: Heritage and Modernity in Steel Architectural Design symposium on November 27. Experts from the ASEAN region and Australia will gather to discuss how steel can be used to preserve cultural heritage while linking it to innovations in modern design.
The event is organized together with Ikatan Arsitek Indonesia, PAM Malaysia, ASA Thailand and BlueScope. It displays the effectiveness of local creativity and global competence. It is also launching the 2026 ASEAN Steel Architectural Awards.
Important guests include the Glenn Murcutt Architecture Foundation Australia, represented by Ar. Nick Sissons and keynote speaker Ar. Steve Woodland of COX Architecture. They will discuss the way that architecture and interior design are moving towards adaptable and sustainable solutions.
Panels will include leading architects and sustainability practitioners in Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia. Ar. Intanon Chantip, founder of INchan-atelier, will be moderating the discussions.
The symposium aims to share knowledge and strengthen the professional relationships across the architecture community of the Southeast Asian Nations of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). As embraced by Ar. Budi Pradono of IAI, the event is a celebration of "resilient, culturally vibrant and visionary design."
With over 150 participants expected, Jakarta's symposium doubles down on the region's dedication to the enhancement of architecture and interior design by innovation, sustainability and collaboration.
