Universal Robots Launches UR8 Long to Advance Automation

Universal Robots introduces UR8 Long, which improves automation by offering measurements of long reach, faster cycle time, and welding and industrial solutions.

Universal Robots (UR) is an international manufacturer of collaborative robots and announced its newest product at FABTECH in Chicago, the UR8 Long. The robot is structured to work in the industrial setting with low space, so it has a great range that gets shortened to compact efficiency that will be applicable in welding works and dunnage picking as well as inspection.

The UR8 Long is precise, has a reach of 1750 mm, a payload of 8 kg and is stable and user-friendly. It runs on the sophisticated software platform of UR as well as MotionPlus to enable more refined motion control. The users may control the robot arm with control sticks, which allow them to program easily and set the robot arm up.

Jean Pierre Hathout, President of Universal Robots, reiterated in his message to the company that the UR8 Long can enable businesses to work faster and safer by automating repetitive and physically demanding tasks. It is also easy to be mounted on gantries, rails and overheads due to its light design and compact wrist.

The new model will have reduced cycle times, as the fastest cycle time will be 30 percent faster than the former models, along with an improved weld and less rework. Will Healy III of Teradyne Robotics emphasized how it is used in collaborative work where assembly welding is required and automation allows productivity and talent exploitation.

Answering the demands of its global mission of providing industries the accessible automation through its activities, the UR8 Long is being taken to its European debut in SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN in Germany. Having sold over 100,000 cobots, Universal Robots continues to lead automation innovation with its flexible solutions.
