CEO Linda Yaccarino of X, formerly Twitter, told reporters during a Wednesday interview in Tokyo that the company intends to create an app development team in Japan and begin hiring engineers in 2024.
To cater to the Japanese market, the first team of its sort outside of the United States will create new features for apps and advertising goods. In an effort to revive its business, X intends to stimulate demand for advertisements from small and medium businesses in Japan, according to Yaccarino.
Yaccarino succeeded Elon Musk as the head of Twitter in June 2022.
As mentioned by Yaccarino, the new team will "develop product s and have direct communication with our advertisers here," with Japan being X's second-largest market after the U.S.
Ten percent of X's 550 million global users reside in Japan. Japan tops other nations in terms of the quantity of texts submitted and the degree of user participation.
X is marketing a "everything app" that lets users publish brief texts and do many smartphone functions like video calls, uploading and uploading of videos, and artificial intelligence-based search. Although the corporation has been working on the program's development in the United States thus far, it plans to hire engineers in Japan to better serve the demands of Japanese customers with its new offerings.
