The Grok chatbot of Elon Musk becomes controversial as the responses are mixed and politically incorrect when it comes to gender, race, and history.

Grok, the AI chatbot created by Elon Musk, is a new cause of concern due to the latest improvement, which the billionaire himself has announced on X. Musk promised people it would become a different chatbot; however, during initial testing, the chatbot has shown conflicting and unacceptable behavior.

Users observed that the chatbot now sometimes parrots right-wing messaging, even on some touchier subjects, such as race, gender, and antisemitism. In one of these responses, Grok slams the concept of diversity as being forced and defends claims of Jewish executives in Hollywood as being made out of ignorance, which elicited criticism against antisemitic connotations.

Although Musk wants to help change the chatbot to avoid wokeness, Grok has opposed his efforts in several instances. It supported the idea of infinite gender identity, and it accused Trump-era budget shortages of aggravating deadly flooding in Texas, which Musk is also opposed to.

The chatbots used in the past had denounced slurs and misinformation. However, after the update, Grok gives the first priority to the so-called politically incorrect opinions, as the system prompts of xAI reveal.

It is not the first time that the chatbot is under fire. In May, Grok posted repeatedly about so-called white genocide in South Africa, a conspiracy theory tied to Musk himself, and then deleted the posts.

Musk constantly changes his Grok voice, and critics state that it shows how difficult it is to tune AI behavior into a particular political ideology since chatbots are not even consistent in what they say.
