Thermo Fisher has recently secured a $94.5M U.S. Navy contract to supply dosimetry systems and a high-end radiation health and database program.
Thermo Fisher Scientific has won a five-year, 94.5 million dollar contract with the United States Department of Defense to supply the United States Navy with sophisticated dosimetry equipment and updates to their database management systems.
In its part of the agreement, Thermo Fisher will provide the Navy Occupational Dosimetry System (NODS) and the Navy Radiation Exposure Management System (NAVREMS) that incorporates features of database management that are important to observing radiation exposure throughout naval systems. These instruments will assist employees that work on nuclear-powered ships, shipyards, laboratories, and hospitals.
NAVREMS, a product, was invented in Oakwood Village in Ohio, which improves the accuracy of the real-time tracking of radiation and database management. The system allows thorough radiation health control in dangerous working conditions: it is equipped with integrated beta, gamma, and neutron detection.
As expressed by Rich McCartney, President of Chemical Analysis at Thermo Fisher, this contract is an indication of the dedication to providing resilient dosimetry and database management, a technology that protects military personnel.
The fact that Thermo Fisher also continues to innovate thereby reinforcing safety measures in the defense, healthcare and industrial sectors, is also one of the biggest milestones in making the company support the national security infrastructure.
