Xcel Energy Grant Boosts Minnesota Environmental Sustainability

Clean River Partners receives a $5,000 Xcel Energy grant to move efforts of environmental sustainability and conservation in the Cannon River watershed in Minnesota forward.

Xcel Energy recognized the environmental sustainability work of Clean River Partners (CRP) by awarding it a $5,000 general operating grant through the resources of the Xcel Energy Foundation.

Xcel Energy Foundation is the charitable organization of Xcel Energy, having a three-fold strategic focus on STEM career pathways, community vitality, and environmental sustainability. Its sponsorship helps organizations such as Clean River Partners to employ effective programs in societies.

Clean River Partners, which operates in the Cannon River watershed, where water quality is persistently troubled by extensive farming, assists farmers in transitioning toward conservation practices. The funding will enable the group to enhance partnerships and increase its activities in the promotion of clean groundwater, healthier soils and safer rivers and lakes.

Jennifer Tonko, Executive Director of Clean River Partners, thanked the grant and the concrete link to the organization goals of environmental sustainability and resilience.

To continue outreach to the community, Clean River Partners are going to have a farmer-led event on September 9 at Churchill Reserve in Cannon Falls, MN. Johanna introduced various conservation measures, discussed climate resilience, and highlighted the daily struggles related to land access, weather uncertainty, and sustainable activities that would be featured in the event.

This initiative will strengthen the resolve of Minnesota to integrate a stronger, more sustainable community into some interconnected environmental sustainability initiatives.
