Samsung can offer subscription plans with health-related features of the Galaxy Watch, but this is a trend that has been quite common: charging for premium features of the gadgets.
Samsung is said to be considering a premium subscription to its Galaxy Watch, which is an indication of the change in the gadgets market. Another new change is that the company could place a fee on advanced health features that users of Galaxy Watch are able to access freely. According to senior vice president Dr. Hon Pak, the company might soon introduce it.
Although the exact launching date is yet to be announced officially, Samsung announced that AI-powered coaching and personalized insights may be locked behind a subscription, just like Fitbit Premium or Garmin Connect+. The new buyers can get these tools at an early stage, whereas the available users might be charged extra fees.
The action can be attributed to a wider pattern in the wearables and gadgets business because businesses are resorting to in-product monetization proceedings after sale. Fitbit, Apple and Garmin have all entered into tiered models, prodding consumers to take out each month in order to gain access to more serious analytics and features.
The transition presents a challenge to gadget users who expected to pay once and guarantee lifelong access to health provisions. As gadgets have started playing a more pivotal role in wellness routines, subscription fees may change users' expectations.
Users of the Galaxy Watch should prepare for possible changes in service and as a result of Samsung entering this market. To some, it can mean the end of the free availability of crucial health tracking capabilities.
