John Carmack announces he will be attending BasedCon, a Sci-Fi and fantasy convention for fans tired of woke propaganda.
Carmack, the co-founder of Id Software and former CTO of Oculus VR, tweeted, "I'm going to be at basedcon.com again this year." "I had read books by three of the authors and had Twitter conversations with them (and more since!), but I wasn't sure what to anticipate last year. It ended up being entertaining in a grassroots manner that made me think of the earlier Space Access days.
Most of the time, going to a convention is pretty ordinary, but BasedCon was an exception. On its website, it states that the convention "isn't about pushing any particular ideology," but it also provides examples of "based beliefs" held by the organizers.
Discriminating against white people is racism
The website claims that while science fiction cons used to be a lot of fun, a small group of authoritarian jerks took over and turned them into places where social justice dogma was promoted.
Furthermore, it advises against attending BasedCon if you do not share those viewpoints: "If you think people of a certain skin color cannot be racist or you expect people to refer to you by made-up pronouns, you may want to do a reality check before coming to BasedCon."
