Novak Djokovic currently has the most men's Grand Slam titles (24) and is firmly established as one of the sport's finest performers.
Novak Djokovic won the U.S. Open men's final on Sunday, giving him the most men's Grand Slam championships (24) and establishing his reputation as one of the sport's greatest players. Djokovic, who is 36 years old and approaching retirement age in the sport, is the tournament's oldest winner.
He gave a master class on winning on Sunday afternoon at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York; his body never trembled, and his resolve was ice cold. The Serb's straight-sets victory against 27-year-old Daniil Medvedev—6-3, 7-6, 6-3—may reveal the final's nature, an uncompromising, point-by-point battle between the greatest.
The victory may have served as atonement for the winner, who was defeated by Medvedev in the 2021 U.S. Open final. Djokovic told the fans that his motivation sprang from a childhood goal: “I wanted to be the best player in the world; that was all I cared about.”
