Semtech and Skylo present a combination of terrestrial and satellite networks to provide a single IoT platform that enables a unique global connectivity of devices.
Semtech Corporation and Skylo have declared a radical collaboration to provide the initial end-to-cloud IoT solution of integrative excellence, becoming several folds of device connectivity associated with both the earth and the sky. This synchronized platform will solve the biggest challenge in global IoT deployments. The devices will not be connected when they are not in the vicinities of the cellular hubs.
The solution combines Skylo-certified modules of HL7810 and HL7812 and Smart Connectivity Premium SIM and the AirVantage® management platform. It allows free-state switching of land and satellite networks to connect IoT throughout the entire industries in logistics, agriculture, energy, and maritime portions.
By combining both land and satellite networks, companies using IoT systems can focus on their main business tasks without worrying about losing connection, according to Rupa Datta, VP of IoT Connected Services at Semtech.
It supports LTE-M, NB-IoT, 2G fallback and LTE and 5G networks in 600 countries and 190 countries, respectively. The satellite network by Skylo can connect 36 countries, which provides an uninterrupted connection to the IoT devices at the distant place. Global and cohesive device and connectivity controls give companies an opportunity to operate more simply and enjoy a lower overall cost of ownership.
Tarun Gupta, the Chief Product Officer of Skylo, described how satellite access to the Semtech platform makes NTN IoT deployment as simple as a standard cellular solution would be.
It is a solution, which would go to testing in general availability in November 2025, and it ensures that it provides enterprises with a forward-thinking IoT infrastructure, making sure to maintain global connectivity without pauses.
