Telenor Merges Nordic IoT Operations to Build a Global IoT Powerhouse

By merging its IoT businesses under one roof, Telenor aims to accelerate innovation and climb into the world’s top five IoT providers.

Telenor, the Norwegian telecom giant, has taken a major step toward shaping the future of connected technology. The company announced that it is merging its Nordic Internet of Things (IoT) operations under Telenor Connexion, creating a unified and powerful global IoT organization called Telenor IoT.

This move marks a key milestone in Telenor’s mission to simplify, strengthen, and scale its IoT offerings. By combining its regional strengths, Telenor is building a stronger platform to serve customers both in the Nordics and across the globe from smart cities and factories to connected vehicles and homes.

Dan Ouchterlony, Head of Telenor Amp, explained that the goal is to “unlock scale and accelerate growth” in a fast-expanding market. With industries increasingly relying on smart devices, the global IoT market outside China is expected to reach USD 30 billion by 2030.

As part of this transformation, Telenor will transfer its managed IoT services from Nordic markets to Telenor Connexion, adding millions of SIM cards and solid recurring revenue. The company will also establish new legal entities in Finland and Norway to strengthen local support.

After connecting over 25 million IoT devices worldwide, Telenor is setting its sights high, aiming to become one of the top five IoT providers globally. The transition will be completed by January 2026, ensuring customers continue receiving seamless, high-quality service throughout the process.
