Red Hat brings OpenShift Virtualization to the forefront using intelligent orchestration, VM mobility, and

multi-cloud in the face of growing VMware competitors.

With VMware making steps forward with its Cloud Foundation strategy, Red Hat is making an effort to
keep the pace by enhancing its OpenShift Virtualization framework. Red Hat also has the latest version
4.19 currently in preview testing the Red Hat platform against other key cloud platforms such as Azure,
Google Cloud and Oracle Cloud infrastructure, a step closer to the hybrid cloud features of VMware.
This version brings intelligent resource allocation that allows more real-time monitoring and automated
balancing of the workload. Red Hat also improved its VM migration tools by utilizing storage arrays to
minimize data transfer downtime. The new capabilities preview enables live migration of virtual
machine storage between tiers or arrays, a move that will improve efficiency in the operations.
The Red Hat advancements are taking place as part of an industry shift. Other vendors such as
OpenNebula, Nutanix and HPE are currently developing substitutes for VMware since customers have
raised issues regarding costs and vendor lock-in by the new Broadcom leadership.
This long-term innovation in virtualization demonstrates that Red Hat believes in providing enterprise-
level solutions as organizations increase their need in such areas as flexibility and cloud compatibility in
hybrid IT platforms.
