Fans Outraged As Crucial Adults Only Footage From The Global Box Office Phenomenon Surfaces On Social Media Platforms.
A massive digital storm has taken over the entertainment world after the highly controversial Obsession censored scene leaked across various social media platforms. The low-budget psychological horror film, which has taken the global box office by storm, is currently the center of an intense debate regarding theatrical censorship. According to insights shared by industry analysts at CIO Bulletin, the unauthorized leak occurred just days after the film’s highly anticipated Indian theatrical release, leaving fans completely divided over the strict regulations imposed on adult-rated cinema.
The film, made on a microscopic budget of just 7 crore rupees (under 1 million dollars), has shocked Hollywood by raking in nearly 100 million dollars worldwide. However, the Indian version was heavily modified despite already receiving an “A” (Adults Only) certification.
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) reportedly ordered a total of 38 seconds of footage to be completely wiped from the Indian theatrical version. Moviegoers quickly expressed their disappointment, arguing that chopping up an adults-only movie is unnecessary and directly drives audiences toward piracy.
The newly surfaced leaked footage includes:
Extreme Violence: A brutal 24-second sequence showing a woman’s head being repeatedly smashed against a car steering wheel.
Graphic Content: A total of 14 seconds of explicit sexual activity and a completely erased nude visual.
Atmospheric Cuts: Crucial psychological tension elements that alter the impact of the film's dark storyline.
Directed by Curry Barker, the film follows a lonely music store employee who uses a supernatural toy to force his childhood friend into loving him, unleashing absolute chaos. Film critics note that cutting out the most intense parts of a horror film backfires in the digital age.
Reflecting on the counterproductive nature of these strict cuts, an online correspondent for Mid-Day pointed out the immediate consequence of the board's decision:
“The move disappointed many moviegoers, who felt such censorship for an adults-only film was unnecessary. Some also pointed out that such cuts often encourage piracy.”
As the leaked footage continues to spread like wildfire, the unexpected box office titan continues to dominate conversations, proving that censorship often amplifies the exact curiosity it tries to suppress.
