FDA Clears Novel Therapies, H1 Patent Trial Ruling for Sarepta

Naloxone hits the market for opioid overdoses; Vertex and lilly’s CF drug and sleep apnea drug respectively; Sarepta triumphs in the patent battle.

The federal department of the United States, formally known as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is taken interest in the development of patient care.  It has recommended necessary products like naloxone for managing opioid overdose, Vertex’s therapy for cystic fibrosis and Eli Lilly’s newly released sleep apnea medication.

Naloxone which is a nasal spray that acts reversely to opioid overdose is now available over the counter resulting to bringing a tool in the fight against opioid epidemic. Naloxone should be easily accessible especially to families with persons that may require opioid prescriptions or substance abusers.

Vertex Pharmaceuticals was approved by the FDA in a major therapy for cystic fibrosis, thereby enhancing its medical specialty in genetic diseases. Eli Lilly's Zepbound emerged as the first drug for obstructive sleep apnea in clinically obese adults, advancing sleep disorder treatment. Meanwhile, Sarepta Therapeutics achieved a milestone by winning a patent case against Nippon Shinyaku amid ongoing legal controversies.
