Loyola University Maryland PRSSA is a Star Chapter and chapter member Eisa Abu-Sbaih wins the National PRSSA Gold Key PR Excellence award.
The Loyola University Maryland chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) received the top award, a Star Chapter Award, and the organization of the year award at the annual PRSSA National Conference, which took place in Indianapolis in October.
In addition to the chapter recognition, Loyola senior Eisa Abu-Sbaih earned the National Gold Key, which is the highest award that an individual PRSSA member can be honored with in the country. As the president of PRSSA, the student organization on campus, Abu-Sbaih was instrumental in bringing national PRSSA executives to campus and in leading an initiative to start a PR program at Loyola.
As a National Star Chapter, it means we strive to produce morally conscious public relation practitioners,” said Tania Rosas-Moreno, Ph.D., advisor to PRSSA. "I am very excited about our student leaders and their commitment to furthering excellence in public relations."
Abu-Sbaih is the former editor-in-chief of the Evergreen yearbook, a reporter with The Greyhound, and an events and public relations assistant at WLOY Loyola Radio. She intends to pursue a career in non-profit marketing, communications, and development, where she will start by working in the Chesapeake Conservation and Climate Corps.
“I arrive at Loyola, and I know nothing about PR. PRSSA has given me mentors, opportunities, and a career path that I am passionate about,” said Abu-Sbaih.
The honor reflects the emerging status of Loyola as a school to nurture talent in public relations and set students up to deliver value to communities across the globe.
