Philippines Expands Push for Stronger Renewable Energy Compliance

The Philippines progresses on renewable energy targets because of its increased RPS conference series, competing in favor of more national adoption of clean energy.

The Department of Energy (DOE) is moving forward with its national campaign for more vigorous implementation of renewable energy provision through the second round of the 2025 Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) Conference on On-Grid Areas in Cagayan de Oro City. The meeting consisted of distribution utilities, retail electricity suppliers and retail generation companies in Visayas and Mindanao in order to increase their potential to achieve their required renewable energy requirements.

Experts representing the Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines, the National Transmission Corporation, and the Institute of Climate and Sustainable Cities presented the participants with important program updates, technical guidance and policy insights.

Undersecretary Rowena Cristina L. Guevara emphasized the necessity of RPS in getting closer to the clean energy transition in the Philippines and termed players of the sector as the architects of energy to the masses. What she stressed is that the meeting will prepare the utilities and suppliers to implement more effective renewable energy technologies to ensure that Filipino consumers have access to affordable and sustainable power.

The series of national conferences will be resumed in the next weeks and will involve the rest of the stakeholders in the remaining on-grids. The project helps to promote the overall objective of the administration to make renewable source development faster, to make the power supply more accessible, and to make the energy sustainability in the country more sustainable.
