China staged an event where humanoid robots battled in kickboxing, as a demonstration of how far robotics has advanced.
China has received a lot of attention lately for hosting the world’s initial combat event with robots that resemble humans. The six Unitree G1 robots had human operators controlling them remotely and they competed energetically in a kickboxing event.
The combat training program installed in the Unitree G1 EDU robots helps them perform punches, hooks, kicks and knees with good accuracy. The peoples’ competition involved robots powered by extensive technology that used both athletic skills and AI.
To control the robots, researchers decided on remote controls; they work well because they have less delay and are simpler to use compared to meanwhile, having superior, timely flexibility over voice and movement commands. The way the control system mimics a video game controller makes it effortless for operators to control robots when the stakes are high.
Once the arena matches were done, the audience was impressed by the "AI Strategist" winning, thanks to its smart moves and powerful blows.
It brings attention to new developments in robotics and suggests how robots may be used in competitions and entertainment activities. As robots evolve, they are able to use human ideas with the precise movements of machines.
As a result of the tournament, more events may be possible, allowing robots to participate in various sports and exposing the world to their progress in AI.
