Freespace Robotics collaborates with Matthews Automation to implement high-density ASRS, which incorporates intelligent robotics to provide accelerated, scalable and efficient warehouse order fulfillment.
The autonomous storage and order fulfillment company, Freespace Robotics, states that Matthews Automation Solutions has increased their investment and they are buying a flagship Freespace ASRS system to run the system in their new Atlanta center.
The announcement comes after the joint exhibitions of the companies at ProMat 2025 and Freespace, which won the Startup of the Year for its high-density cube design. This system combines robotics and NEXUS warehouse execution software by Matthews, allowing a smooth synchronization of inbound and outbound processes, inventory, and sequencing work.
Among the issues solved by Freespace Robotics, Gary Cash, SVP of Matthews Automation Solutions, pointed at modularity, interoperability, and quick deployment. The deployment will offer an on-plus testing of the capabilities of the Freespace robotics throughout the process of order fulfillment.
The high-density ASRS cube squares storage, sorting, and retrieval in a small, modular fashion. The deep storagelanes can be accessed by its intelligent robotic carriers in less than 40 seconds in simultaneous put-away and retrieval. This new method is efficient; it needs less space and is also easier to maintain.
The Freespace robotics were engineered together with Carnegie Foundry and the Carnegie Mellon University National Robotics Engineering Center so as to enhance state-of-the-art technology and the best performance in the industry.
As the market demands smarter, unified warehouse automation, Karl Sanchack, the COO of Freespace Robotics, mentioned that their robots offer the flexibility, scalability, and speed required by operators.
Freespace Robotics continues to expand with the support of Matthews International, U.S. Steel, and NFI Industries in an effort to provide a new generation of highly adaptable and high-performance automation solutions in the area of warehouse processing.
