Wärtsilä Completes Global SAP S/4HANA Cloud Upgrade

Wärtsilä is migrating to SAP S/4HANA Cloud and, thus, boosting digital agility, potential automation, and use of artificial intelligence in its operations worldwide.

Wärtsilä has made an impressive achievement in digitalization through the implementation of the SAP S/4HANA Cloud platform to replace the enterprise resource planning of all its company operations worldwide. This migration out of the outdated SAP ECC environment, made possible by RISE with SAP, will strengthen the digital foundation of the company and enhance efficiency by automating processes and making decisions based on data.

Wärtsilä can now deliver rapid responses, integrate AI and analytics across the entire value chain and streamline operations to absorb dynamic market demands and regulatory requirements with SAP S/4HANA Cloud. The company leadership has said that it is a transformational move of the company in achieving more agility and facilitating decarbonization goals in the maritime and energy industry.

Along with its partners Accenture, CBS, and SAP, among others, the implementation was implemented at the same time in 77 countries. Wärtsilä executives argue that such an upgrade would allow the company to achieve scale in its innovation and maintain its competitiveness in the rapidly changing digital environment.
