Wärtsilä has introduced GEMS Pulse software, which maximizes battery performance, uptime, and revenue by predicting analytics and real-time insights into energy storage.
Wärtsilä has introduced a new software platform named GEMS Pulse that has transformed battery and operational data into practical intelligence for energy storage asset owners. It is a solution that will improve performance, uptime, and revenue throughout the life cycle of storage systems.
GEMS Pulse is an analytics, anomaly detection, scenario simulation, and real-time tool intended to support operational flexibility and the health of the system. The software allows to recover battery capacity that is not used and minimize operational risks that may cost millions in the lifetime of a project by tracking key metrics, including state-of-charge, cell imbalance, and degradation.
GEMS Pulse is software to allow customers to operate the assets in real-time and predictive intelligence so that they can use the assets quickly and safely, as explained by Luke Witmer, the Vice President of the Energy Storage Software Engineering of Wartsila. The platform equally prepares the operators to simulate dispatch strategies, optimize the performance under constraints, and comply with contractual guarantees.
The software engages the combination of advanced analytics with the battery science expertise of Wärtsilä, leveraging the insights of millions of operating batteries and billions of hours of performance data. System operators are now able to detect poorly performing cells prior to failures, thus reducing downtime and creating as much energy as possible.
GEMS Pulse is currently being used by Wärtsilä's energy performance services team, where they have optimized over 9 GWh of battery capacity, showing that the platform can improve the efficiency and financial results of energy storage facilities.
In the course of this launch, Wärtsilä is establishing a new standard in predictive energy storage software, offering a combination of science, intelligence, and scalability to provide unprecedented value to asset owners.
