Lagos Governor Praises Progress on Agro Tech Hub

Lagos takes food security to another level with the launching of the new food agro tech hub, where storage, distribution and sustainability of food are a part of the Produce for Lagos focusing project.

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has praised Origin Tech Group on the progress made so far on the Mid-Level Agro Food Hub in Abijo, Eti-Osa, where over 90 percent was completed. According to him, the hub would make a great contribution to the food security agenda in Lagos as well as the decentralization of food distribution in the state.

The hub, located on 23,000 square meters, with storage facilities, trading floors, and parking, will make residents have greater access to fresh food due to the Agro Tech driving process. Sanwo-Olu stressed that the facility is one of the strategies proposed by Lagos to bolster its food distribution channel.

Other agro tech hubs are being completed in Agege, Lagos Island, Oregun and Ikorodu, with future hubs planned for Epe and Badagry, explained Prince Samuel Joseph Samuel, Executive Chairman of Origin Tech Group. Each hub will be linked to the central logistics hub at Ketu-Ereyun that will become a core of the distribution chain within the state.

The tour follows the recent introduction of the ₦500 billion Produce for Lagos project, which falls in line with Lagos Agricultural Roadmap 2021. With the incorporation of agro tech solutions, Lagos will promote food sovereignty and ensure the development of stable supply chains.

This project makes Lagos a leader in using agro tech on a mass scale to manage urban food.
