Animaj is raising capital to grow the use of AI in animation to turn children's IP, such as Pocoyo into multi-platform international content brands.
Investors remain confident in the AI-driven business model of animation innovation Animaj, which secured new funds in Paris and London to the tune of 85 million dollars. It was funded by a round led by HarbourView Equity Partners (USA) and Bpifrance Large Venture (France) and supported by JP Morgan, among others.
Animaj was launched in 2022 and established itself as an animation company where artificial intelligence and ownership of the content coincide. Its business model goes beyond the creation of leading-edge GenAI animation tools in itself and comes to its acquisition and rehabilitation of children's IPs, such as the iconic preschool series Pocoyo. The relaunch of the show on YouTube also made Animaj the 5th biggest online kid-based brand in the world and the channel attracts more than 22 billion views each year.
Animaj, in comparison to the normal animation startups, has proprietary technology that saves time and maintains quality. Its AI-powered pipeline combines sketch-to-pose prediction and motion in-between, giving the animators more control by using familiar tools such as Maya.
Having raised more than $185 million to date, Animaj now has global expansion on its mind and is working on transforming popular children's IPs into multi-format franchises on YouTube, Roblox, Netflix, and beyond. With the increased demand for scalable, fast, and quality animations, Animaj will be the next generation in storytelling.
This funding signifies a trend in the animation industry, as AI stops being a buzzword and becomes a reality that transforms workflows and changes the ways of entertaining viewers.
