TIM initiates a worldwide challenge to rev up smart infrastructure through AI and the Internet of Things to transform Italy's energy, water, and road systems.
In an attempt at transforming the critical systems in Italy, TIM has implemented an initiative, namely, the TIM Smart Infrastructure Challenge, which targets to transform the country through smart infrastructure. The initiative focuses on startups, scale ups, and innovative companies all around the world to improve the energy, water, and road infrastructure of the public and the private sector.
Having as an object of the challenge a strong emphasis on smart infrastructure, the use of AI, the IoT, as well as intelligent sensors, is encouraged to revolutionize the monitoring of infrastructure and energy management. These innovations have a fertile environment in the Italian IoT market, which is estimated to reach an approximate pool of 9.7 billion euros in 2024.
It is initiated as a component of TIM Open Innovation direction, supported by major industry players, such as Arduino, EIT Digital and Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center. It also brings on board Alaian, an international telecom alliance to help in increasing global participation.
The proposals on smart infrastructure will consider two primary areas, namely, predictive monitoring of infrastructure and smart building energy systems. Solutions can be implemented by TIM Enterprise or its partners giving it or the partners greater sustainability, efficiencies, and performance in all sectors.
