World Soil Day seeks to boost awareness and join global efforts on sustainable soil management, a key basis of future food security.

Every year, December 5 is the day for World Soil Day is being celebrated to highlight the significance of soil for sustainable development and food security. So after the UN in 2013, soil awareness has taken soil that extra mile in accepting that soil is important, and that soils need to be maintained in a sustainable, sound way.

In 2024, the theme "Caring for Soils: The "Measure, Monitor, Manage" says anything that goes into the soil should be guided by precise data for sustainable soil management. One sixth of the earth we live in, 1600 million hectares, is in danger of soil degradation and soil health, jeopardizing food security and urgent action to mitigate climate change. Action is required now to build sustainable practices for croplands and pastures.

The UN's FAO and Thai Ministry of Agriculture is to host a forum on soil and water which is to take place for a four day in Bangkok acting to review soil degradation and water depletion.

India and Thailand are the key players in the global choir to promote soil conservation and sustainable management. India in particular can take the lead in the sustainable and wise management of soil resources inspired by reverence and culture that binds the people to nature for collective action. Restoration might also be done politically through leaders, investments, and regional or international cooperation.
