Wolverine Packing Co. Entity recalls 167,277 pounds of ground beef is returned resulting from E. coli.

Wolverine Packing Co. in Detroit is recalling about 167,277 pounds of ground beef products that may be linked to E. coli O157:H7 infection. All Food and Beverages that have a distribution network to restaurants across the country are affected by the recall. The recall comes after many consumers who ate the implicated ground beef reported becoming sick.

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture raised the alert after a report on a set of patients who ate the ground beef before developing symptoms. On November 20, 2024 the Minnesota department of Agriculture revealed the correlation after it was discovered that a sample of the ground beef tested positive for E. coli.

The products being recalled include Food and Beverages, the latter also consisting of both raw and cooked ground beef, which have ‘use by’ dates of 11/14/2024 for fresh goods and have a date of production of 10/22/2024 for the frozen ones. Also, FSIS is worried that the implicated ground beef products may still be stored in one restaurant’s refrigerator or freezer in the other parts of the country.

Customers and restaurant owners should check their ground beef for recall, as it may be contaminated. Some of colon effects of E. coli include uncomfortable stomach aches, loose bowel movements, fever, and sometimes HUS especially if it attacks the vulnerable individuals like the infants.

FSIS It is still unclear about the cause of the outbreak with the concerned health department. Any consumer who has consumed the recalled Food and Beverages and is in any way ill should see a doctor without any hesitation.
