Google Upgrades Veo 3.1 Video AI

Google upgrades Veo 3.1 to vertical video and enhances the AI-based video generation.

Google has renewed its Veo 3.1 AI model, which is a significant upgrade enabling the company to stay competitive in the emerging AI video generation market. The newer version will also feature enhanced timely intuition, visual consistency, and support for vertical video for creators, developers, and businesses.

One of the improvements is the improved functionality of Google, namely, its feature called Ingredients to Video, which enables users to create videos by pairing images with brief textual prompts. As Google says, the authors can now attain higher storytelling and cinematic performance without trying to write sophisticated directions. Characters, backgrounds and objects are more constant between scenes and create coherent long-form work.

Google itself added native support of the 9:16 aspect ratio, which allows creators to create videos that are optimized to work on the YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and TikTok platforms. This feature facilitates the streamlining of the mobile-first content creation process.

Additionally, Google has improved the output quality by enhancing the 1080p output and introducing a 4K upscale option on select platforms. This is being rolled out in YouTube Shorts, the YouTube Create app, and Gemini consumer-facing apps. There is Veo 3.1, which is available to businesses and developers, and there is Vertex AI, the Gemini API, Flow, and Google Vids.

With this update, Google expects to provide more flexible and high-quality tools to create video as well as compete more aggressively in the space of AI-powered content creation.
