New Healthcare Research relates the Mediterranean Diet to Better Liver Health and Less Environmental Impact.
A new study indicates that the Mediterranean diet is capable of combating a frequent liver disease known as metabolic-associated fatty liver disease, or MASLD for short. The diet is also good for the environment, as it reduces waste and pollution.
Poor eating habits, including high consumption of processed foods and excessive calorie intake, are major contributors to MASLD. Here, slight fat capacity and inflammation in the liver improve with a Mediterranean diet containing lots of plant food and whole grains, olive oil, and a slight fish intake.
In a study that lasted half a year, people who followed a Mediterranean diet reduced a lot of liver fat. They also reduced greenhouse gas emissions and required less land.
Experts say that promoting this diet in a health-care setting can prevent long-term afflictions and save the planet. The study's lead researcher said, "This shows how food and health plans can help people and the Earth."
The study confirms that not only drugs but also changing lifestyle choices are key to public health and can fight against both health and environmental problems.
