As part of their expansion and continuous investigation into quantum computing, IBM is all set to open their first quantum data center in Europe.
IBM, a global tech giant, has opened a quantum data center in Europe as part of its ongoing investigation into quantum computing.
Along with the quantum data center, IBM is also creating a multichannel scheduler, a new software integration layer that will allow them to expand their study on cloud-based quantum computing to other places, channels, or partners.
IBM recently disclosed its collaborations with the Universities of Tokyo and Chicago to create the first quantum computer with 100,000 quantum bits.
In a statement, IBM clarified that their cloud services and the quantum data centers are all separated by the multichannel scheduler, which is a layer. It facilitates user access to multi-region computing, which has the benefit of incorporating quantum resources from various regions, based on their needs or constraints, such as data sovereignty, and runs quantum programs using the Qiskit Runtime primitives.
IBM wants to make it possible for quantum regions to collaborate across borders, which will let them use classical services to run some of our middleware for quantum instruments. While routing quantum workflows to the relevant regions, the multichannel scheduler interacts with each of these channels.
Regardless of where users are submitting code from, IBM Quantum systems will be able to be used in both the new European quantum data center as well as the US quantum data center thanks to the multichannel scheduler.
