Vyapak Desai quits NDA and floats his own chambers and transforms India's chambers, ethics and legal services scenario with arbitration know-how.
Vyapak Desai, the Disputes Head at Nishith Desai Associates (NDA), is stepping down after two decades to establish his own law chambers, marking a significant move in India's law, ethics and legal services sector.
Desai is yet another Gujarat University graduate with an LLM in Corporate Laws and is known to have led in the field of international arbitration and cross-border litigation. He has established a reputation as a competent strategic advisor and oral advocate in complex legal cases, spanning more than 25 years, in such areas as financial services, TMT, and infrastructure.
Desai headed some major verticals like International Disputes & Investigations and Capital Markets & Securities Law Practice at NDA. He had previously worked with Singhi & Co. at Ahmedabad and Mumbai.
Nishith Desai, Founder of NDA, stated, “We are deeply grateful to Vyapak for his 20 years of dedicated service. We have a long-term relationship with Vyapak.”
The exit of Desai indicates a shift in the dynamics of the law, ethics and legal services sector in India as experienced professionals opt for their own way of doing things.
Alipak Banerjee, another senior NDA leader, left earlier intending to form an independent disputes chamber which signals a wider development in the entrepreneurial world of elite law, ethics, and legal service providers.
