Miriam Schnyder’s Art X on Glass AG: Crafting Hand-Painted Reverse-Glass Masterpieces that Illuminate Every Space with Radiant Light, Authentic Emotion, and Exquisite Artisanal Excellence

Glass carries light the way memory carries feeling—quietly, persistently, until it suddenly floods a room with color that wasn’t there before. In the hush of a kiln, molten silica remembers every breath of the artist who shaped it, every tremor of joy or ache that guided the brush. This is the alchemy no machine can replicate: human hands coaxing liquid fire into stories that glow.

At Art X on Glass AG, that alchemy finds its home. Art X on Glass AG is a sanctuary for handmade glass art and singular creations. Under the visionary guidance of its Founder, Miriam Schnyder, the company is built on a profound belief: that glass can be more than an object; it can be a vessel for dreams that illuminate a home and touch the soul. Miriam’s central role is that of a connector, weaving together the worlds of art and glass with steadfast passion. For her, and for the community of artists she has gathered, the work is a means to give something back, to spread joy and inspiration.

In their workshop, glass is not simply painted; it is brought to life. Each piece, be it a vibrant stained-glass panel or an elegant mirror, tells its own story and stands as a one-of-a-kind testament to the artist’s hand. The creative process is a heartfelt response to the emotions that move us all—love, friendship, sadness, hope. They paint what they love, with love, transforming raw materials into treasures of feeling.

Art X on Glass AG understands that each of its clients is unique, and so they create nothing less for them. Every artwork is a promise that there will never be another like it—a tangible piece of passion meant to resonate with the singular beauty of its owner’s spirit. This is their creed, their purpose: to forge the most exclusive connection to emotions, art, and glass, creating not just possessions, but companions for the soul.

Miriam Schnyder, Founder, Owner, and CEO of Art X on Glass AG, shared with CIO Bulletin her wish for every reader to feel she is speaking straight to their heart. With her team of skilled artists, she channels emotion and masterful craftsmanship into each creation. Rooted in quality, beauty, and authenticity, Art X on Glass AG has earned its place as a trusted leader in luxury glass art, crafting unique artworks that capture personal stories, transform spaces, and touch lives deeply.

Interview Highlights

What ignited the spark to found Art X on Glass AG, and how did your personal passion for glass and art shape the company’s mission to create unique, hand-painted works?

My dream was to create a foundation that offers space for children with autism, where these children can spend their time after school or during their vacation. After unsuccessful discussions with several investors, my friend told me: “Create a new company and be independent.” At that time, I already had one company, the glass company SCHNYDER Glasworld GmbH. And to be honest, I wanted to spend most of my time with my small children, but as I looked at my children, I knew I needed to do something. One day, we had a meeting in my company, and I saw that one lady was drawing on glass. I asked her, “Mrs. Gisler, what are you doing?” Her answer: “Mrs. Schnyder, I do what I learned in my country, Austria. I am an artist in glass painting. Only, I do not do this job because no one will pay for it.”

It was amazing. The time of birth of Art X on Glass was here.

As the founder, Miriam Schnyder, how do you balance your role as an artist with leading a community of creatives to bring the vision of Art X on Glass to life?

It is a hard job, because as an artist, I want to have freedom in my soul. As a businessperson, I do not have this freedom, because my head is working nonstop, day and night, and I am looking for possibilities to make a new brand more visible. I admit, bringing a new brand to the market is harder than I thought.

Sometimes I have the feeling of losing the ground under my feet, and then I know I need to spend intensive time with my family, with my parents and my children. With my family, I can charge my batteries. I read old books and look for new inspiration.

Art X on Glass offers a range of products, from wall decorations to tables and coasters. Can you elaborate on the specific services and products you provide, and how they cater to different spaces and client needs?

Some people say we are diverse, because we offer so many kinds of products. My dream and my wish are that everybody should have a piece of Art X on Glass in his/her own home. Art X on Glass connects the beauty of glass with the beauty of painting. Our products can be used as decorative items on a table, as a part of interior design, and as artwork on the wall. We decided to invest 30% of every sold piece of artwork into a foundation for children with autism. Every one of our artworks is handmade, unique, and a true work of art. With our philosophy, we try to show people that everybody can have a piece of art at home. To have a piece of art in one’s home is legitimate, and Art X on Glass is for everyone.

The tagline “WE LOVE TO BE UNIQUE. FOR YOU.” is powerful. How do you ensure that your clients feel this personal connection and uniqueness when they purchase a piece from Art X on Glass?

Every one of our artworks, no matter the size, tells a story. My artists and I speak almost daily about ideas for our paintings. We encourage each other because some paintings are very complicated. In many artworks, the artist crosses the boundaries of himself or herself. We try to make seemingly impossible paintings, because with reverse glass paintings you need to start with the detail. When you have our glass in your hands and you turn it around, you can see how the glass with our painting reflects the light. These are millions and millions of small particles of light that shine in endlessly many colors. If you move the glass only one millimeter, the particles change the color of their shine. It’s amazing.

We use acrylic colors and sprays, and we work with metal leaf too. Last week, we finished our first painting with 24-carat gold leaf. It is beautiful. This painting shows autumn in yellow and orange tones. It is unique, for you.

Art X on Glass prides itself on creating unique, one-of-a-kind pieces. Can you walk us through the creative process behind designing and hand-painting a piece, from inspiration to completion?

In August 2025, we had a vernissage in Bürgenstock, Switzerland. We presented many personalized paintings there. All the paintings were sold, and some were even ordered again with requests for “the same painting like this.” You can imagine how we felt. Our paintings are one-of-a-kind pieces, and people wanted to have the same ones. So we started to innovate our paintings because we are not able to paint exactly the same picture one-to-one. If we did, it would be a print, and this is not our business. If someone wants to have a painting like “this one,” we try to paint it as similarly as possible. For example, there was a painting of a heart. The next time, the artist changed the color, and we received an order for three dark blue hearts. Lovely!

Glass is a unique medium that interacts with light in extraordinary ways. How do you and your team leverage this quality to create transformative experiences in spaces like bathrooms, kitchens, and living rooms?

Glass, as a unique medium, is so beautiful. In one glass pane, the sun swims and the light dances. The glass offers depth. With our paintings, we are trying to create 3D effects. When you touch the glass in your shower, you have the feeling that our painting is “running” toward you. Or if you watch your kitchen wall, you have the feeling that this wall “lives.” Glass + colors + light are the ideal combination to make rooms lively.

How do you foster collaboration and creativity within your community of artists, and what makes your team’s approach to glass art stand out from traditional methods?

At our first fair, many people thought that we were crazy. Some of them said we were a disgrace to the art community. They said only paintings on canvas can be called “art.” My artists and I were shocked, sad, and disappointed. But we said: somewhere on this planet, there is a place where people like our artwork, and we will find this place.

Do you know what hurts the most? That people in our closest circle do not trust in our work. And do you know what? It hurts, but we do not care, and when people laugh at us, we do not listen. We follow the voice of our hearts.

At the beginning, there was competition within my community of artists, because some of them did beautiful paintings and some did not. Everybody developed his or her own style of reverse glass painting, and everybody has his or her own speed of development. And at the end of the day, it was and is my job to make sure that everybody feels comfortable within my artists’ community.

What’s next for Art X on Glass? Are there any exciting new projects, collections, or innovations that clients can look forward to in the near future?

We are happy to participate at the end of November 2025 in the TAIF – Tokyo Art International Fair, and we are endlessly happy and proud that the painting of Miroslav Sidlik was nominated for the Sakura Prize. In February 2026, we are planning a big event for and with children in Bratislava, Slovakia. At the end of March 2026, we will participate in the YouNique Art Fair in Lugano, Switzerland. I am very excited, because this fair will take place in a beautiful building, and it is a new experience for us. A few days later, in April 2026, we will be in New York – we will participate in Artexpo New York. This will be amazing, and it is a great honor for us that we can show our artworks in such a special and lovely place as New York.

In May 2026, we will exhibit our artworks at a private vernissage in Istanbul, Turkey.

But the most important thing is that our foundation for autistic children will be created in a few weeks, and the name of this foundation is equivalent to that of one picture by Wassily Kandinsky, who also made some paintings on glass too.

Looking back on Art X on Glass’s journey, what is the one achievement you’re most proud of, and what legacy do you hope to leave in the world of glass art?

I am very proud to have received the Global Pioneer Award in Vision and Leadership in Art and Emotions at the Fluxx Conference 2025 in Doha, Qatar. This award belongs to everybody from Art X on Glass AG, and it is a recognition of the love and trust of people who believe in us and in our work. Art X on Glass is not only a brand; it is a new way of thinking about art.

With our artworks, we want to build respect. We want to be accepted, even if we cross the boundaries of art and science. We ask to be given the opportunity to show what we can do. Please do not judge before you see our artworks. Please do not judge only because you do not know our name. If people are brand hunters, they are not interested in us. If people are open to new things, they will find a beautiful world of reverse glass painting.

Miriam Schnyder | In Her Own Words

I am very proud to be the Founder, Owner, and CEO of Art X on Glass AG. This small company has cost me many sleepless nights (smile). But to see the light in the eyes of our customers when they see their artwork for the first time, especially the personalized ones, is indescribable. A small story: we wanted to surprise our friends with a reverse glass  painting of their young dog. When they saw it, they said, ‘This dog looks like our dog. It is our dog!’ It was magic. We love to make YOU unique.

Art X on Glass is not only a company or a brand; it is a new way of thinking about art. Reverse glass painting is an old painting technique, but it has not always been accepted by people who define what art is and what it is not. We are seven people who show that reverse glass painting gives the highest touch of individualization to any space. Reverse glasspainting is a big challenge because we need to think in reverse (mirrored). It is about the fear of failing and about endless happiness when the customer is satisfied.

“At Art X on Glass, we have two goals: to remain financially independent and to support our foundation for children with autism. From every artwork we sell, 30% of the price goes directly to this foundation. That is our promise, our purpose, and our way of turning art into something that gives back.”
