Interview Highlights
Can you share the inspiring journey of how Ryze Health & Wellness was founded and what motivated you to bridge the gap between functional and western medicine in the field of hormone replacement therapy?
We started Ryze Health & Wellness after uncovering a major deficiency in our healthcare system—a system focused merely on symptom management rather than addressing or reversing the root causes of dysfunction. Having experienced this firsthand through our own health complications, we set out to be the change we hope to see within our healthcare community.
Ryze Health & Wellness offers a wide range of services, from male and female HRT to peptide therapy and athletic performance optimization. Could you highlight the key offerings that set your company apart in the industry you serve?
One area where we’re different in our offerings is our ability to access and provide newer solutions faster than many other clinics. Because we partner with extremely reputable pharmacies, we’ve been able to access groundbreaking new peptides and medications through these relationships. Examples of this include Larazotide, a peptide that specifically supports GI health and healing, as well as SLU-PP-332, a breakthrough fat loss tool that hundreds of our patients have used with incredible results.
The biggest area that sets us apart, though, is the attention given to each patient throughout their time working with us, as our specialists follow up and check in with patients at a minimum every six months to ensure all hormone levels and health markers are trending in the right direction. Many other clinics simply prescribe medication and send the patient on their way, but it’s critical to us to ensure the patient is seeing the right results for their well-being and long-term health.
The name "Ryze" evokes a sense of upliftment and empowerment. What is the significance behind the name, and how does it align with your team’s philosophy and approach to guiding patients toward optimal health?
When we opened Ryze, we wanted to drive home the mission of helping patients achieve their most optimal well-being through root-cause healing—mentally, physically, and emotionally. We chose the name “Ryze” to convey the ability to reach one’s highest potential, something many of our patients don’t even believe is possible before coming to us.
How does Ryze Health & Wellness’s innovative blend of functional and western medicine set a new standard for personalized healthcare, and what’s one breakthrough moment that defines your company’s impact?
Typically in medicine, you’ll see clinics that follow either strictly Western medicine or strictly functional medicine. We are primarily a functional medicine clinic; however, at times we take concepts from Western medicine that can benefit a patient's treatment plan. For example, we sometimes use strategic antibiotics in some of our intense GI healing cases, as they improve the ability to eradicate infections, expediting the treatment and resolving the patient's symptoms faster.
We also have prescription peptides that we can leverage for various patient applications depending on their symptoms and goals. We offer peptide therapies to assist with inflammation and recovery, immune and detoxification support, energy and motivation, and even muscle growth and fertility peptides.
Your telehealth services cover all 50 states, making healthcare accessible. How do you ensure that patients receive high-quality experience from consultation to medication delivery?
Because we operate via telemedicine, it’s very important to us that we develop strong connections with our patients to earn their trust and ensure a positive experience for them.
We do this by employing a team of specialists and providers who share the same vision of helping individuals achieve their very best well-being and put the patient’s health above company profits. Our specialists will never recommend a product to a patient that they don’t truly need or wouldn’t benefit from. Every recommendation is made in the best interest of the patient. Additionally, all of our consultations are free, which allows patients to feel at ease knowing they have access to constant support with their health. All patients also have the ability to email specialists with any quick questions or comments.
We make the testing process simple and easy for patients from the start by partnering with companies like Quest Diagnostics for convenient blood work, as well as Diagnostic Solutions, Vibrant Labs, and Precision Analytical for the highest quality GI, toxicity, and hormone conversion testing that can all be done at home.
As for product quality, we utilize FDA-regulated compounding pharmacies for all prescriptions so patients can feel confident that they are getting safe, extremely high-quality products.
You’ve partnered with some of the most skilled functional health professionals in the US. How do these collaborations enhance the care you provide, and what qualities do you look for in these partnerships?
Our partnerships with other functional health specialists allow us to further our scope of practice and reach and assist as many sick individuals as possible. Our goal is to always ensure we’re providing the very best services for patients across various areas of health.
When we’re considering a new partnership, we always make sure that the practitioner’s mission and views align with ours, and that, at the end of the day, they care most about patient health and well-being. Too often in Western medicine, profits are put first, which is a huge part of the current American health crisis, so we always want to partner with specialists who want to make a true change in the system and practice in that way.
With an eye on the future, how is Ryze Health & Wellness planning to sustain its growth while maintaining its commitment to affordable pricing and FDA-approved, domestically sourced compounds?
At Ryze, we’re very grateful to have experienced upward growth since we opened three years ago, and we can attribute part of this to our value of prioritizing patient health over profits. Patients can sense when they work with us that their best interest is in mind with our specialists: our team meets patients where they’re at while providing high-quality service and expertise. Because of this, we’ve been able to receive a great amount of word-of-mouth, which continues to help our clinic grow.
Moving forward, the abilities of our team and the service provided to patients continue to improve, and this is an area we’re constantly monitoring, as it’s extremely important to us to ensure we’re constantly providing our patient base with the highest level of education and service.
As one of the “Leading Companies to Watch 2025”, what are Ryze Health & Wellness’ plans for expanding its impact, whether through new services, technology, or reaching more patients across the United States?
A staple in our organization is that we continue to expand our team’s knowledge and expertise to assist as many patients around the country as possible. We have recently expanded our diagnostic testing capabilities to service even more severe cases of "stealth infections" such as Chronic Lyme Disease, Mycotoxin Exposure (Mold Toxicity), and viral infections like EBV or variants of the HHV herpes strain.
These are very common in our population; however, there’s little awareness or discussion of the health complications caused by these internal burdens. This is one area that sets Ryze apart from other clinics as well, since this is a newer conversation even in the functional medicine circle but is extremely important to identify in patients to assist in resolving their issues.
The Dynamic Leaders Leading Ryze Health & Wellness with Passion, Purpose, and Patient-First Focus
Erin Renzelman is the Co-Owner, Chief Financial Officer, and Director of Operations of Ryze Health & Wellness.
Matt Cusano is the Co-Owner, Clinical Director, and Head Functional Specialist of Ryze Health & Wellness.
What fueled Matt and Erin’s fire to start Ryze was the fact that they both struggled with lifelong health dysfunction and were victims of the hamster wheel of Western medicine. As they got involved with the telemedicine industry, they witnessed a major prioritization of profits over patient care. They knew they needed to shift the narrative on functional health! They’ve grown Ryze and trained the team of employees to provide a high level of understanding and explanation to patients, to develop a strong bond for long-term care.
They’ve also set the precedent that, at Ryze, they target the root cause of a patient's health issues to provide them with lasting results, rather than layering on medications, as is far too normalized in Western medicine.
