The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences confirmed that Ryan Gosling will be performing “I’m Just Ken” from “Barbie” at the Oscars. Gosling will share the stage with the co-songwriter of the song, Mark Ronson. A number of additional nominees for the 2024 Academy Awards were revealed on Wednesday.
Gosling sang “I’m Just Ken” in the box office hit. He is also nominated for the Best Supporting Actor for his role as Barbie’s longtime beau. This song, which Ronson and Andrew Wyatt co-wrote, is one of two from “Barbie” that were nominated at the ceremony. Jimmy Kimmel will host the ceremony on Sunday, March 10, at 7 p.m. EDT in Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre.
The other “Barbie” song eligible for an Oscar is “What Was I Made For?” by Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas O’Connell. It’s already garnered a Grammy and a Golden Globe. “I’m Just Ken” won best song at the Critics Choice Awards. Additionally, Eilish will be performing at the Oscars.
Gosling has been nominated for an Academy Award three times, having previously received nominations for “Half Nelson” and “La La Land.”
Eight nominations for the Academy Awards were given to the film, with America Ferrera receiving a nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Along with her partner Noah Baumbach, Greta Gerwig received a nomination for best-adapted screenplay, and Margot Robbie is a producer on the film, which is also eligible for best picture.
