SAG-AFTRA strike

On Wednesday, the entertainment industry studios and SAG-AFTRA, the union that represents actors in movies and television, announced that they have tentatively agreement.

SAG-AFTRA, the organization that represents actors in film and television, announced on Wednesday that it has reached a preliminary agreement with entertainment industry studios regarding a new labor contract. This development brings the parties one step closer to calling off their bitter, nearly four-month-long strike.

The union said that the strike will end on Thursday at 12:01 a.m., even though the new contract still needs to be approved by SAG-AFTRA members.

The agreement's complete terms were not immediately disclosed. After reviewing the accord, the national board of SAG-AFTRA may accept it as early as Friday. Subsequently, the agreement's specifics will be disclosed, and every guild member will cast a vote on it.

SAG-AFTRA stated in a letter to members that the agreement adds 'above-pattern' minimum compensation increases, first-of-its-kind consent and compensation measures that shield members from the dangers of artificial intelligence, and the first-ever establishment of a streaming participation bonus.

The Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists received what the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers called their "last, best, and final offer" from the group on Saturday.

The approximately 160,000-member SAG-AFTRA announced on social media on Monday that it was working to "bring this strike to an end responsibly," but it also noted that there were still major differences between the parties' positions on important matters, such as how the studios would employ artificial intelligence.
