Smith Entertainment Group launches new production company

Smith Entertainment Group announced a new production company called SEG Media, set to provide exclusive content on Utah Jazz.

The basketball team, Utah Jazz's parent company, Smith Entertainment Group (SEG), announced the launch of SEG Media, a new production company, this week. Starting with the 2023–24 National Basketball Association (NBA) season, SEG Media will provide Utah Jazz fans with ever-present access to watch games through a combination of over-the-air television broadcasts and a subscription-based streaming service, providing them with exclusive content of the team.

Fans in the Utah Jazz local broadcast market will be able to access all locally broadcast Jazz games via an over-the-air antenna connection on KJZZ, channel 14, which will serve as "The Home of the Utah Jazz". Games involving the Utah Jazz will also be available via KJZZ-carrying local cable and satellite providers.

SEG Media is the company's first foray into the media and broadcast industries, heralding the dawn of a new era in content creation. With future plans to serve other SEG entities and outside partners, the new production company will create all Utah Jazz content for distribution on the team's digital platforms, the over-the-air TV channel, and a new direct-to-consumer (DTC) streaming option.

The NBA has granted SEG and the Utah Jazz all necessary approvals, and Endeavor/WME Sports has provided advice on the new course of action. Financial details are, however, being kept confidential.
