Utah’s one and only Snow College library, chosen from multiple applicants, is set to host the ‘Americans and the Holocaust’ museum this fall.
Snow College's Karen H. Huntsman Library is set to host "Americans and the Holocaust" exhibition, one of the top 50 libraries in the country, and the only one in Utah. The U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum has put together a travelling exhibition that explores the reasons, demands, and anxieties that influenced Americans' reactions to Nazism, war, and genocide in Europe during the 1930s and 1940s.
From 2020 to 2024, the library exhibition, which is based on the renowned exhibit at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, will tour different libraries across the United States. From September 4 to October 11, the "Americans and the Holocaust" exhibition is going to be showcased at the Huntsman Library, along with a number of related special events.
"Americans and the Holocaust" explores significant themes in American history and is based on extensive new research from that time period. It looks at the various impacts that influenced how the American government, news media, organizations, and people reacted to Nazism, including the Great Depression, anti-Semitism, isolationism, xenophobia, and racism. The prevailing beliefs that Americans were largely uninformed and passive in the face of Nazi persecution as well as the Holocaust are challenged by this exhibition.
The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and the American Library Association have collaborated to present the exhibition as a learning opportunity.
