Tubi and Bell Media merge to promote media and entertainment content production and streaming in Canada and other regions.
Tubi by Fox Corporation is increasing its presence in Canada as a result of a strategic media and entertainment venture with Bell Media. The partnership encompasses content distribution, advertisement sales, and co-creation of original content to be introduced to everyone across the globe.
In the agreement, Bell Media will be the exclusive partner of Tubi in the country of Canada in terms of selling ads and its FAST channels that use ads will be available on the Tubi platform. Other plans to be put in place through the partnership are the distribution of new original content worldwide through the Sphere Abacus division of Bell Media.
Describing the partnership as a milestone for the media and entertainment ecosystem in Canada, Sean Cohan, President of Bell Media, said it would have offered premium storytelling and an increase in advertising opportunities. The companies are seeking to create Canadian originals such as Prejudice that will be broadcast on both Bell Media platforms, CTV and Fox.
The deal will enable Tubi, Fox, and Bell Media to split the cost of production, enjoy tax advantages, and reinforce the cooperation in cross-border media and entertainment. As the competition increases with Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, this partnership makes both firms significant players within the streaming industry in North America.
