Flickering display issue raises fresh concerns about everyday smartphone reliability.
A growing number of users of Google Pixel 10 Pro are reporting a strange display issue that is proving hard to ignore and even harder to forget once noticed.
Over the past few weeks, complaints have surfaced across online forums, with users describing a flickering rectangular patch appearing just below the front-facing camera. The issue has been seen on both the Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL models, cutting across different software versions, including beta and stable releases.
For many, the glitch shows up randomly on the home or lock screen, but disappears when apps are opened. A simple restart of the device seems to fix the issue temporarily, but frustratingly, it often returns.
Experts believe the problem may be linked to the phone’s proximity sensor, a component placed beneath the display that helps detect when the device is near a user’s face. If the sensor behaves unexpectedly, it could explain the flickering effect.
As noted by popular tech creator Zack Nelson, whose teardown videos highlight internal smartphone components, “there’s actually a window in the display panel for sensors,” hinting at where the issue might originate.
While Google has yet to officially address the glitch, users are hoping for a software fix soon. As CIO Bulletin observes, even small display issues like this can significantly impact user experience, especially in a world where smartphones are central to daily life.
