OCSiAl Expands Graphene Silicone Innovation

OCSiAl, as a global leader in Nano Technology has launched a new laboratory fully dedicated to liquid silicone rubber (LSR) and room-temperature-vulcanizing (RTV) systems at its growing production site in Serbia. The move is in support of increasing global demand for graphene nanotubes that are used in next-generation silicone materials.

The newly launched facility is fully equipped to do formulation, curing, molding and electrical testing for more quickly developing graphene nanotube-enhanced silicone solutions. According to the company, Nano Technology is allowing silicones that have the combined properties of permanent electrical conductivity with flexibility, softness and color stability, which are considered incompatible.

These advances will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the industrial sector. In automotive applications Nano Technology is used to support antistatic, EMI-shielding silicones, which are durable when used in extreme mechanical and thermal stress. Robotics and precision parts have an increased demand for assured antistatic protective properties and wearable and wellness-level units benefit from enhanced conductivity and comfort, with real-time data monitoring of the body.

OCSiAl said the demand for graphene nanotubes continues to accelerate and causes steady expansion in both the production and R&D. The company is planning to scale up its capacity for graphene nanotubes fourfold next year, which strengthens the company's role as a core enabler of smarter, lighter, and longer-lasting materials as Nano Technology.

By scaling its silicone capabilities in Europe, OCSiAl tends to reduce the availability of Nano technology-based graphene solutions to manufacturers in Europe and in the United States; it shapes the future technology in mobility, electronics, healthcare and advanced manufacturing.
