Social media owners are following in the steps of Elon Musk

Elon Musk’s drastic changes to Twitter have seemingly inspired and allowed other social media companies to follow suit.

Elon Musk has faced a lot of backlash since he acquired Twitter in late October and started overhauling its operations, but there is no denying that he has had a significant impact on other social media titans.

These CEOs have been studying his strategy and imitating different facets of it, such as cost-cutting and paid verification.

Reddit's Steve Huffman is the most recent CEO to recognize that influence. In an interview with NBC News last week, he claimed that Musk had shown how a social media app can pursue profitability without having to expand to the size of Instagram, specifically by slashing operating costs without remorse.

Musk began firing more than half of Twitter's staff in November, citing the need to reduce expenses and concentrate on quick change. This month, Reddit made the announcement that it would let go of about 5% of its workforce.

Although Musk is a newcomer to the social media industry, other apps that are more or less Twitter's competitors have experimented with the company's actions, indicating that the mercurial billionaire is already making an impact.

According to Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, the organization that owns Facebook and Instagram, other tech executives have recently been given permission by Musk to be more aggressive in eliminating positions and reorganizing their organizational structures.
