To develop faster, more affordable cloud computing, Oracle teams up with AMD

Oracle plans to release brand-new Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Compute E5 instances with 4th generation AMD EPYC processors.

This move makes it simpler for businesses to balance cost and performance in their cloud environments and cut costs.

Customers can allocate cores and memory as necessary with flexible instances from OCI, in contrast to other cloud providers' rigid instance options, which force businesses to pay more for unused computing resources.

In comparison to previous iterations, OCI Compute E5 instances will provide more CPU cores, better performance per core, better memory bandwidth, and higher storage capacity. Customizable features include:

• OCI Compute E5 Standard Instances
• OCI Compute E5 HPC Instances
• OCI Compute E5 Dense-IO instances

With particular features like burstable and pre-emptible instances, OCI also enables users to tailor deployments to their needs. By scaling up quickly or allowing their resources to be reclaimed for use elsewhere when demand fluctuates, this aids customers in maintaining control over their compute resources and costs. Shielded instances provide hardened firmware security on both bare metal and virtual machines to protect against malicious boot-level software for businesses running especially sensitive workloads. Finally, by encrypting and isolating data in use, confidential computing instances can also aid in preventing unauthorized access while still delivering high performance.

OCI Compute E5 instances can be configured with clustered file systems to handle complex cases in addition to the typical uses for cloud-based computing services. These situations include those involving simulating car crashes, training AI models, conducting financial analysis, or situations requiring quick access to and changes to data.
