RBOA Celebrates 40 Years of Impact in Public Relations Excellence

Tallahassee’s PR pioneer celebrates four decades of shaping narratives and embracing digital innovation.

RBOA, a cornerstone of Tallahassee’s public relations (PR) landscape, celebrates 40 years of crafting impactful narratives. Founded in 1985 by Rick Oppenheim as RB Oppenheim Associates, the firm has managed over 300 campaigns, from local Democratic political efforts, such as those for former Tallahassee City Commissioner Nancy Miller and Leon County Commissioner Cliff Thaell, to transformative public awareness initiatives like Help Me Grow Florida. Now led by CEO Michael Winn, who took ownership in 2023, RBOA has evolved into a digital-first PR powerhouse, mastering social media, content strategy, and video production.

Starting as a one-man operation, RBOA built its reputation client by client, shaping public voices for nonprofits, businesses, and associations across the U.S. Its work has swayed elections, built brands, and driven life-saving public health campaigns. With a staff now spanning Tampa, Jacksonville, and beyond, RBOA has nearly tripled in size since 2023, fueled by a collaborative model that blends strategy, visuals, and storytelling.

The firm’s pivot to digital PR reflects a seismic industry shift, with traditional methods now secondary to dynamic online campaigns. RBOA is also embracing artificial intelligence, developing AI agents to enhance client services while prioritizing data security. Looking ahead, the firm aims to redefine PR by integrating cutting-edge technology with its core mission of impactful communication. As RBOA marks this milestone, its legacy of innovation and influence continues to inspire.
